2010 Harvest

Our 2010 harvest happened on 2nd October on Tooting Common, South London.  A beautiful sunny and social morning after a grim grape-collecting session in torrential rain for many members. We delivered an impressive 1.5 tonnes of grapes to Bookers Vineyard where the grapes were weighed and picked over by hand, juddering along a vibrating sorting table– the quality control was stringent. After destalking and pressing the fruit, the juice will now slowly ferment over the winter in deepest Sussex.

We have over 15 known varieties of grapes blended in our wine but the greatest majority are of unknown pedigree. This eclectic mix of grapes gives Urban Wine its unique character - hoping this year’s production will be as deliciously quaffable as last years.
